I have been sitting in a chair pretty much for three days watching the golf so really thought it was time I got some exercise today.
Decided to walk to the village the longer way round & drop my repeat prescription at the doctors.
A fantastic September day........perfect walking days.
I didn't get quite as far as I hoped as I had a hole in my sock which really irritated my heel...I sat on the bus shelter bench & twisted said sock round but it spoilt my walk.
Called in on our nephews place as I walked past & he had a new calf born two days ago.
Here she is with her mum.
Three good things:
1. Hundreds of geese flying south making a terrific noise....I looked up to take a photo but it didn't work out. I love seeing the geese fly over in their V formation.
2. The smell of autumn, grass cutting, bonfires & lovely autumn colours.
3. New life.
My eldest the last few mornings has asked what the smell is when we go outdoors. I tell him it's autumn! Love the smell too. Great shot, calf looks v sweet just poking out.
Well I still darn socks! and jersey's with holes in the elbows! They are generally favourites. I particularly hate holes in the toe though! This is a great photo - the calf is really out of season though, isn't it?
@maggiemae we calve all year round here maggimae ....even when we were milking we did. A liquid market you see to feed all the people in this overcrowded country's, Beef cattle calve all year round.
What a sweet shot, love how the calf is hiding behind Mum. The hole in the sock took me right back to my childhood when my sister, dressed as a fairy and sitting on the swing in the garden, burst in to tears because she found she had a hole in her sock. Between the sobs she said "How can I be a fairy with a hole in my sock". That has been one of our sayings for the past 60 years whenever we see a hole in socks. ha ha. You will have to fix it now Pat or you can't be a fairy.
What a beaut bucolic scene. Cows are such wonderful animals - I watched a program on the training of some for a commercial last night and the trainer said they are about 10 times smarter than a horse!
@snaphappi I can be,I even that Maggie....our cows were so intelligent...we had Jerseys & they were real characters. They knew how to come back at the end of milking for any feed that had been dropped by other cows on their way out. Certain ones always waited until they had chance to get extra rations!
