Autumn garden

This was the view from our bedroom window at the hotel we stayed at last night.
Harry was quite taken with the little cloche over the raised bed.

A truly terrible journey home through wind, floods & torrential rain.
A very stressful journey with much concentration.
We stopped at Killington Services for a breather & met our niece who was traveling back from Newcastle after seeing her daughter at Uni. She had travelled on the A666 over Brough & was really quite shaken up!

We got home & realised I was using the spare car keys & we can't find the original ones anywhere!

Might be slacking a bit commenting tonight I am pretty tired but thank you so much for all your comments.

Three good things:
1. We got home in one piece!
2. Lily was pleased to see us!
3. My uncle looked well & very on the ball....he wouldn't have lost his car keys even though he is nearly 94!!
Look at all those apples going to waste.. Great little gardens which would lengthen the growing season.. Sounds like a hideous road trip, pleased you home safe and sound..

Sounds a nightmare journey. We have that weather but luckily are cosy indoors. I could tell several tales about Ray and keys: house keys, car keys, any keys - but I won't embarrass him. Have a good rest now Pat!

@julzmaioro @quietpurplehaze Thank you both for your kind words. I am cross about the keys, car keys these days are so fancy & cost a fortune to replace! Let's hope it's like the sat nav disc & they turn up! Me & losing things these days!!

lovely autumnal scene - it was a bit wild this weekend - I had a pretty scary walk with the dogs - driving rain and high winds, but exhilarating all the same! At least you are home safely !

Glad you are home safe and sound! It's horrible driving in bad weather - I get really nervous especially as I am often on my own! I am driving to the South Coast on Thursday so hoping the, weather will be kind! Lovely view from your bedroom!

A lovely view. But sounds like a terrible journey.

Yes - Harry's right - posh cloche! When my sister was at uni in Leeds my mum used to pack shovels and blankets and flasks every time when went to collect her for Christmas - never needed thankfully but those Trans Pennine roads can be a bit tricky!

Good to read you got home safely. So stressful driving in stormy conditions and the dark makes it even worse. We've been ok but think tomorrow it's all going to change. Keep cosy!
