Downham by happypat

Downham

The village of Downham in the Ribble Valley in Lancashire is beautiful. Population 156 persons, it has a pub, post office, church & school.
Owned mostly by the 2nd Lord Clitheroe he does not allow any overhead electricity wire, satellite of TV aerials making it an ideal location for period drama.

Three good things:
1. Gastroscopy over & done with...all good. It was loads worse than I remembered but they did do two biopsies which took longer.
2. Banana flavoured throat spray.
3. The amazing new main entrance at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. I have been several times with Harry over the last year but never been to the new entrance before. M&S, W.H Smith, restaurants & escalators, I was amazed! A bit different to my day when I worked there!!!!

Thank you all for all your good wishes regarding said procedure!
What a lovely village and I'm so glad they don't allow wires and satellite dishes. Well done Lord Clitheroe!

November 18th, 2015
@rosiekind Yes but it seems very medieval doesn't it to be able to tell people what they can't have or have not. Was just wondering if they had TV!
November 18th, 2015
.....but still a very picturesque village, and a nice shot.
November 18th, 2015
I expect anyone wanting to move into this village would know the rules and accept them. Electricity can be underground but not TV stuff. You would be glad that procedure is over but still have to await the results! Good luck!
November 18th, 2015
@maggiemae No got the results straight away maggiemae...all ok just a small polyp but no need for any treatment. Much relief!

November 18th, 2015
One of my favourite films was made there 'Whistle down the Wind'. Looks quaint
November 18th, 2015
@pinkpaintpot well they must have had floods Linda because the house with the gable end in the middle of the bridge had sand bags up the front door. This was taken on Monday so I expect this little river is up today.

What a beautiful village scene. I can see why it would be popular with period dramas.
November 19th, 2015
What a great village. It's so good not to see the clutter of modern electricity pylons and TV aerials.

Glad you're gastroscopy is over and done with - not a pleastant thing to have to endure. The hospital sounds very posh!
