Getting the maize in

We have had so much rain over the last couple of weeks that there has been no chance for farmers to harvest the maize crops. It was just that bit short of ready while that lovely dry weather was on but now it is well ready.
Of course the fields are so wet that it's like a mud bath. The farmer at the back of our house has two outfits going here & as I write this at almost 7pm they are still getting the last of around ninety acres.

There has been a very large road sweeper going up & down all day thank goodness so the lane isn't too bad. We take it in our stride but some of our neighbours hate the mud on the roads!

Eight tractors in this photo!!

Three good things:
1. I have done all the first coat of Shaded White emulsion in the large double bedroom. I just have one weeks slot before there are guests in there......takes a bit of pressure to concentrate the mind!
2. Cold custard.
3. Maps
Good thing that they were able to get the tractors in when they want. Unless they all own one. it is rather late for harvesting! You are painting again? Don't know how you do it! And cold custard - you like that?

@maggiemae Yes painting again but this is the last until next year. I have to do the bedrooms while it's quiet. I had the radio going & the portable fire on so was quite happy. I love cold custard, it's the best isn't it Ruth @newbank Late harvesting this year, the last two weeks of rain caught them out. We have had late sun this year so it was all rather behind.

Harry would be pleased to see that the maize is finally getting harvested.. retired farmers worry about what is going on.. do they resow the paddocks or leave it till sprig to replant the maize.. @dide like maps as well.. saw one the other day lamenated and used as the 'table cloth' on a café table..

@julzmaioro You are so right Julz.....he has been fretting about still being in the field & bothering that they missed the best weather. They seem to leave the maize fields until Soring but have resign the fields that had grain in.

Rather late for harvesting, isn't it? The fields here are very wet and muddy, but I think most maize is harvested. Nice picture.

Lovely shot. They are all working so hard. Must be a bit of a rush to get everything done before winter sets in.

Great that the maize is getting harvested. Our maize gets made into silage. Yes @julzmaioro is right - I do love maps too!
