Harry is minding Ginger again this weekend, her family have gone to Centre Parks.
We cut the old Christmas lights off the holly bush in the front garden & put up some new white lights.
Ginger was very interested & helped all she could.
Terrible floods here in the north west, the worst I have ever known. Garstang cut off to us as our main A586 road is flooded in many places. Lancaster is in a terrible way with thousands of homes with no electric, phone or internet. All of the city centre is closed and evacuations going on.
Cumbria has had it even worse with massive flooding in Keswick, Carlise & Appleby. I hope our 365 friends are safe. @pinkpaintpot@motherjane & @countrylassie to name the ones I know.
Schools all closed so the kids will be happy!
Three good things:
1. Christmas tree up & lit outside for all the lane to enjoy.
2. A talk to Anthony this morning, first for quite a while, he's so busy at the moment.
3. I have written the cards to go abroad so have made a start!!
Such terrible weather and floods Pat -- so bad in your area ! All the flooding , lets hope it will recede pretty quickly , all those people evacuated from their homes and all the clearing and making the home habitable again ! And not forgetting the farm animals , --I suppose they have been moved to higher ground !
And on a happier not -- so pleased to see Miss Ginger busily helping for her keeps !!
Ginger is a lucky hen having the garden to find food treasures! Even on our side of the world we have heard of the flooding - the rain must have been worse in your area!
I love this shot of Ginger hens are so inquisitive,. It really is so sad to see all the flooding , it seems worse at this time of year , thinking of all those family's getting ready for Christmas
@julzmaioro Yes terrible weather Jukz. Just talking to Brian & he was asking your name, wondered if you were in the farm discussion group & visited other farms. Wondered if he might have met your George.
@beryl See his are garden looks so dopey but in reality you walk on the grass & it's a squelchy mess & further down that path is flooded. So sorry for all the flooded houses specially at this time when you want a pretty house.
@maggiemae All the north west of England affected maggiemae specially Cumbria. We are cut off from Garstang competency but luckily dry on top of our hill.
@happypat No George use to be in a farm discussion group but not now.. did he go to the Friesian day last week down that way our nephew spoke at it, and some others from around here were down that way..
@julzmaioro not sure Julz, he's still on the phone to Harry, just said he has lots of grass down & it's raining ! Brian has enjoyed the discussion groups as its been a great way of getting to know other farmers over the six or so years he's been there. He has had a few at his place.
been seeing all the floods on TV. Must be even worse in the cold weather. Lovely picture of Ginger. she looks so happy working her way round the garden
Lovely shot, Ginger certainly looks settled in. My sister phoned a couple of nights ago and she told me of the dreadful weather you have been having in the UK. She had cataract surgery a week ago so can't drive the car yet either and has to wear a patch when she goes out so as not to get grit in her eye.
So glad you're safe Pat.At the moment it is only the water meadows and low lying land that is flooded but there is more water to come. It isn't the rain here that affects us so much as the water coming down from the hills. We're lucky as we are just high enough up to stay dry. Several of our neighbours suffer badly.
@thistle thank goodness you are out of harms way Joyce that would be the last thing you want just now! We are ok but I can't get to daughters house without a detour of miles & her place of work in Lancaster has no electricity so no work. Not grumbling though!
The pictures we've seen have been terrible, the extent of the flooding is unbelievable, glad you're OK. The storm has barely touched us here, we just had some fairly strong gales over the weekend, but hardly any rain.
