I was in the mood to put the Christmas tree up this afternoon. I know it's a bit early but hopefully the needles won't drop too much, it's very fresh!
I think it's the best one we have ever had for straightness. Harry trimmed its trunk & it's gone in the base very firmly.
We have put it in a different place this year. It usually goes at the bottom of the stairs but it was always a bit squashed there. Much prefer it here but we've had to move furniture around a bit.
Three good things:
1. I went west to Poulton today as we can't drive east to Garstang. Called at the brand new Booths which is very smart.
2. A litre of Bombay Saphire gin for £17 something instead of £26 something ....I didn't buy a bottle as I'm still drinking the second bottle of Harry's pet looking after payment!
3. The ease with which we can exit our lane onto the main road. There are barriers up at the traffic lights a mile away so all the heavy vehicles are having to go north via the M55. Our road is only for local traffic & it's bliss!
Lucky you to have a real tree. I get hay fever from them but I do love the smell. All the road blocks and detours are a bit of a nuisance especislly this time of the year
@julzmaioro Yes you're right it has altered our daily lives a bit Julz, we mustn't grumble though at least we can put our tree up! If it was summer here at Christmas time I'm sure I would have an artificial one too. We have one in our sitting room as it gets too warm with the wood burner on. This real one is in another room where it's cooler.
Such a wonderful cosy feel to this shot ,with a chair each side of the tree ! Lovely to see a real tree -- it has been years since I had a real tree !! and will make do with the fibre optics from this day onwards !! The weather is still so miserable and causing so much continued havoc in your area -- keep safe !
@judithg Harry keeps saying we shouldn't bother with a real one but he hasn't mentioned it once this year & this tree has been very well behaved! I'm sure your tree will look lovely Judith!
You would be able to see this tree from outside too! Are all the presents going to fit around the base? I can just see you and Harry singing carols here while holding candles and looking angelic!
@maggiemae Can you really maggiemae...I think you have good imagination LOL! You can see it from the outside & it looks pretty through the window. Could just do with some snow then I could take a photo for next years cards!
Your tree looks beautiful and I bet it looks lovely from outside. I love looking in the Windows of houses as I walk Finlay. It all looks,so warm and inviting when the decs are up! Hope the terrible floods don't reach you Pat! So sad to watch the news at the moment!
I promised myself I would get a tree up this year but I've been so busy dashing here there and everywhere I reckon I won't be able to create a spot until about the 2nd January to do it!! I'll just admire everyone else's instead!
@essiesue@dide@ceilidh Thank you Sue, Dianne & Margaret....I love to see the Chrustmas trees lit up....a bit early for ours but I was in the mood among all the gloom & rain!
Hope things dry up before too long in your area.........
