Some beautiful handmade Christmas biscuits made by the girlfriend of Lydia's cousin.
A lovely new book, a proper book as a change from a dreary Kindle book.
These were just two of the lovely gifts this Christmas.
A great party last night thanks to our very hospitable generous neighbours. Good to meet some new ones recently moved in.
We are entertaining tonight so commenting will be a hit & miss affair I'm afraid!
Three good things:
1. Our lovely friendly lane.
2. A glass of Jameson's 30year old malt.
3. A lie in.
I'm for proper books all the time! The Tolkien title cunningly concealed - Neil is a fan. I'm just reading A Place called Winter, Patrick Gale's latest - a sllghtly grim start!
@quietpurplehaze Letters from Father Christmas Hazel. The letters Tolkien sent his children over the years pretending to be the man himself. As the children get older the letters get more grown up. Beautuful drawings to accompany it. I am looking forward to starting . I have just got The Winter Children on my kindle so am going to start that too tonight. Tolkeins book for day time as you can dip into it & the other for bedtime!
The biscuits look too good to eat! But will go stale. You have got some good presents from all sorts of people, not just family! I thought you said it was Jamieson's sherry before but I realise it must be malt. I'll have to look for that!
Thanks for the info re the Tolkien book. The Patrick Gale is not a book for bedtime reading I found - not for me anyway! You might also like 'Me and Mr Mac' by Esther Freud.
@quietpurplehaze I started it last night late in bed & enjoyed it enough to order so now well on with it.....seems different to other books & I Always like change of subjects! Will let you know how I go on!
@thistle I lo my kindle Joyce, it's just so convenient! The only downside it costs money unlike the library but could be spending money on worse things plus I have three kindles in my name so my books go all round the family! One in NZ & my daughters here in the UK. I buy them & they pinch my list! I will have to get a pile up ready for holidays soon!
