As the tide came in at Wells this morning the fishing boats brought the nights catch ashore.
These are whelks destined for the South Korean market.
They were alive & moving, gave me the creeps but we both felt sorry for the poor things. I didn't fancy eating them at all, they looked revolting perhaps that's why they were going to Korea!
I have no idea how they got there, would they be flown or packed in ice or frozen?
It was strange to see these fishermen that had been out all night fishing drinking beer fairly early in the day.
I suppose its at the end of their working day! I guess whelks have no brain so can't work out whats happening! I feel like a no-brained whelk at times!
@maggiemae Oh !! Maggiemae -- you make me laugh -- you come up with priceless ideas and thoughts -- now I am sitting here with a silly grin on my face instead of feeling sorry for the whelks Pat ,a lot of the fishing is cruel to my way of thinking
Great and colourful shot of the night's catch!
I imagine the morning is the end of the day for the fishermen - though it is strange for them to be drinking beer so early!
It's a tough, and sometimes, dangerous life, and would not want to do it
