A little detour on our way home today & went to Lincoln.
A great surprise it was too, I never knew it was so steep & hilly. I associate Lincolnshire with very flat land so was amazed to find it so different to what I expected. I was quite proud of myself climbing all the way up to this wonderful Catherdral with one crutch!
Interesting history you can easily Google & the sight of this amazing church high up on the hill dominating the city skyline was not to be missed!
I did call in at a camera shop & asked the young man to check my camera but whatever he did didn't work so have very poor photos of Lincoln sadly.
I was interested to see a tribute to Bomber Command around the cathedral as of course many airbases for the RAF were based in Lincolnshire during the war, indeed my own father was there with his squadron.
This is only half the inside of course as there is another aisle on the other side of this central bit. It's the third biggest cathedral after St Pauls & York Minster.
It really is a magnificent cathedral. Our first posting with the RAF 47 years ago was to RAF Scampton in Lincolnshire so I know Lincoln very well. You did well to climb the hills. Hope your ankle has recovered.
@onewing Yes thanks Babs it is much better but still need the help of a crutch if I'm walking far. Doesn't hurt at all just stiff & mostly behind my knee & thigh.
Takes my breath away just looking at it.
A FAV!
Filmed an episode of Antiques Roadshow here once...lovely place!
