Summer rose by happypat

Summer rose

Our roses are just beautiful at the moment specially next to the lavender.
I am not a gardener & only weed when there is a dire need but I do like to have a tidy pretty garden.
Luckily the natural layout of our oval garden edged with oak trees pretty much looks after itself so minimum effort on my part is needed. It helps that Harry is very enthusiastic grass mower so the lawns look fantastic.

I am sorry to say I never left one comment last night. We were out with friends then came back for our pudding before watching the big EU debate on TV.

Three good things:
1. The smell of garlic coming out of the oven!
2. I have ordered my photos for the show.
3. A new Lancashire Life to read.
Just beautiful. I can't believe you don't consider yourself a gardener!

Beautiful rose Pat. Your gardening sounds like mine!

@busylady No I certainly do t Judith, I don't do any if I can help it! Would love a proper miscellaneous border with sweeping flowers like delphiniums but no way will it happen in this garden. The roses here are in some stone troughs.

@thistle I'm lucky Joyce minimum effort suffices here thank goodness!

Beautiful colour. An olde English-type rose. I'd enjoy gardening more if I didn't have several families of rabbits who eat almost everything I plant!

The colour is lovely, Pat.

@julzmaioro I used to have the name tag on but looked & it must have come off but I know it's a DAVID Austin rose.

A lovely capture

What a lovely old fashioned cabbage type rose -- I just noticed you said it is a David Austin Rose -- I am sure it must have a beautiful perfume !

Your roses are absolutely stunning, Pat!! Beautiful bloom, gorgeous color, and bright & healthy leaves. Love this wonderful shot!
June 22nd, 2016
Pat, I'm curious if you are for or against the UK staying in the EU? Or is that too personal to ask/answer?
June 22nd, 2016
Lovely shot. We can't grow roses here, they always die on us. Our flowers have to be pretty hardy.
June 23rd, 2016
Beautiful shot of the rose! Mine do not look nearly as nice as yours!
How exciting that you ordered your prints for the show - good luck!

@peggysirk We are voting Leave Peggy. The biggest decision we will ever have to make for the UK. It's very close 50/50 result so every vote counts. I will be up all night watching, I love anything like this! I could get into big debates but have learned to keep my mouth shut!
June 23rd, 2016
@happypat I admire your sovereign spirit! I'll be tuned in for the outcome of the vote. It takes place today, right?
I love all things political too...although the current US presidential campaign, sadly, leaves me with nothing but a desire to take a hot shower. Not sure how we got to this point.

such a beautiful rose. looks like those on fine china. We are watching the vote with interest too Pat.
June 23rd, 2016
I'm a bit like you - leave the garden to do its own thing but look after the lawns. Voting here is going to be a big debate! No-one seems to know what to vote - except Kerry!
June 23rd, 2016
A beautiful pink rose but after my orange rose, with poetry, I was expecting some verse from you. I accept the waft of garlic instead. FAV
June 23rd, 2016
@ladymagpie He he Heather, sorry to disappoint!
June 23rd, 2016
@maggiemae I know Maggie & I suspect it's the opposit to Kerry....will be a close run thing!
June 23rd, 2016
@peggysirk Not sure either Peggy but I think the world is in revolt everywhere! I would never have thought we would be as close as this to leaving the EU but times are changing & there is revolt in the air!
June 23rd, 2016
@peggysirk btw way the rises only look good because Harry hacked them down in the winter when the new fence went up, it's obviously done them good!
June 23rd, 2016
This is fabulous. The rain rather affected our rose bush badly but is making a good effort this week.
June 23rd, 2016
beautiful pat
June 24th, 2016
So pretty Pat, and you obviously have green fingers!
June 25th, 2016
@jackie8 No Jackie I'm hopeless & not interested in gardening! This was a fluke as Harry chopped down the roses when we put the new fence up & they have really done well since.
