There have been very high tides over the last few days.
The fields here below our house are bordered by the River Wyre which flows along to the estuary at Fleetwood. When there is a high tide you can see the full river from the house. To the left of the pylons on the skyline you can see the river at full height it almost looks like the sea flowing in.
If you look at a map of the north west of England you can see the estuary as it flows out between Knot End & Fleetwood, we are just as the river narrows beyond the wide bit.
View from our back garden Harry's hen cabin in the foreground.
Three good things:
1. Looking at tiles, flooring & kitchen cupboards with Cathy & Lydia.
2. Hot chocolate in Number 13.
3. Books to borrow in the cafe.
Ooh exciting times with new kitchen in the offing. My second cousin has moved to Knott End so we took mum & dad there last time we were up north. It's a fascinating place I thought - you'd have to have a certain mind set to chose it but lovely in the sun!
@judithg Cathy's new extension & te dusng of ground floor but my word all this lovey tiles, floors & kitchens, I was so envious! Free standing baths with sleek bath racks with slots for wine glasses! Not that I'm a bath person! Knot End is an acquired taste!!
Water , water everywhere (and not a drop to drink ! ) We are having a very soggy January so far aren't we ! A lovely scene -- you can see for miles from your garden -- lucky you !
Love the colours especially greens.....hope things don't get too wet down your way.....we still have bits of snow and ice lying in places and they say around here that it's waiting for more😕.
My daughter in Boston is also experiencing record high tides from the mighty East Coast blizzard. Lots of cars got stuck trying to go through flooded streets. We really must respect Mother Nature. Beautiful scene here.
Nice sweep of landscape! The hens are so lucky to have this big shed to huddle in in the midst of your winter. Mine too at the moment - not cold and not wet here! But storms in other places all round the world!
Full moon and Climate Change will do that. We had very high tides here, roads and houses were filled with ice chunks and water during our latest big storm called Grayson. This is such a lovely peaceful country picture.
