The other end of the market square in Poulton le Fylde.
This is the foody end with fresh veg, meat & some rather off looking fish.
The fish was cheap, too cheap for me so I walked past!
St Chads Church.
I've had rather a bad day today! I muddled up my doctors appointments & arrived an hour too late for my appointment. Very annoying as appointments are like gold dust plus I didn't want to go down as a 'no show'. The most cardinal of sins in the surgery world!
Have to wait now for telephone appointment on the 5th March! Luckily bloods all normal.
Harry & I then got ready for a funeral, drive about ten miles & it's tomorrow!
Repeat tomorrow!
Three good things:
1. Had a nice unexpected lunch in Garstang in between her appointments.
2. My sisters birthday.
3. The awareness about plastic & how bad it is for the environment.
Shame the sun is not shining - this scene would look a lot cheerier! Time for a holiday for you two - the days are all the same so you make mistakes with timing!
@maggiemae my appointments were together on a two inch square of paper. They print them off & I misread them as blood appointment was first but it was the bottom one I was supposed to go to!
Lovely to see the street markets going strong - We have a Market Hall in Wellington which is open on four days a week . but unfortunately some of the stalls appear to be empty these days !
Ooh dear ,not a very good day then Pat -isn't it annoying whe you have days and times wrong I rely on my diary these days to make sure I am on the right track ! !!! Glad your blood results are fine ! , And how is your sister these days !
@beryl ah thanks for remebering Beryl. I was in touch it's her today & she seemed very cheerful. Her body aches a bit, she's doing yoga but generally things are going well. Finished her treatment now so a matter of living life perhaps a little quieter although she has just become a grandmother for first time.
Love shopping at food markets...we have one 5 miles away or Saturday each month but don't seem to get there very often.
What a frustrating day! Hope you're having a gentle evening 😊
Oh dear that is a bad day ... Farmer George went off the a Vintage Machinery show the other day and he was a month too early ... so hope he remembers to go then .. Pleased to hear you left the fish there ... Great market scene..
@onewing you're right Babs! We do have a proper fish stall in Great Eccleston & Garstang on market day but it's a proper refrigerated van & is beautifully presented. I think the guy yesterday probably got his fish from just up the road at Fleetwood & just laid it out on a trestle. He wasn't busy!!
@maggiemae I haven't been taking any medication maggie but I know they can be tough on the tummy. Just want to get checked out really, found nothing yet!
oh Pat, what a messed up day. Glad your blood tests were ok. I know youve probably tried endless suggestions but my annoying tummy troubles were sorted out by drinking Lactose free milk and taking a lactase tablet before I eat cream or cheese unless its also lactose free. Hope you get it sorted soon. We are off to to the UK again at the end of May and will spend another week in the Lakes district. Are you at home around that time or will you be over our side of the world. It may just be possible to fit in a coffee on our way up from London. Still working on our itinerary.
@cruiser that would be wonderful Chris! Not sure yet when I'm going to NZ, had planned mid May but now looks like a bit later, could even get to first Tuesday in June. Would love to meet up though, I can easily travel to your route perhaps at service station or even meet fir a coffee in lakes if I'm around while you're there. Will keep in touch when I know dates. Haven't booked yet as just waiting for results of medical stuff. Interesting about your lactose result. I have tried to keep a food diary but I haven't gleaned anything from it yet as you never can tell when tummy aches will hit. As soon as they get some idea I will be booking. Nearer the time we can co ordinate a coffee stop!
Great shot Pat, I'm always wary of buying food in markets! Our fishmonger is really good but I avoid the butcher! How is your sister? I hope everything is going forward for her. I've damaged my chest wall where I had RT. Serves me right for doing too much but Anthony is very weak and jobs need to be done!! SO warn your sister to do as she's told! I was never very obedient even as a child 😀
@thistle ha ha Joyce always the rebel then! Good for you, I was far too meek & mild as a child! I don't think anyone hardly remembered me at school! My sister is doing OZk thank you. She is quite good at doing as she is told I think. Seems to be taking care , I must ring her tomorrow, haven't had time with going to one funeral in two days! 🤣 Hope you soon feel better, it's hard when there is no one else just to do a simple job that you think will only take a minute but is really far too much for you, plus we forget we are all getting older!
Ooh dear ,not a very good day then Pat -isn't it annoying whe you have days and times wrong I rely on my diary these days to make sure I am on the right track ! !!! Glad your blood results are fine ! , And how is your sister these days !
Maybe it's time to take a break?
What a frustrating day! Hope you're having a gentle evening 😊
Not so sure I would buy meat or fish from a market stall, certainly not in Australia anyway, too many flies and too much heat.
So sorry about your bad day. I’ve done similar things and I do sympathise.
