The fire engine standing in the square in Scorton on Saturday was a big draw for William & he spent a happy twenty minutes chatting to the fire staff & comparing notes.
Three good things:
1. The first BBQ of the year.
2. Watching planes go overhead & checking on Flightradar24 where they are going.
3. Chatting with Erin & learning about life in the USA.
I retired from the fire service three years ago after serving just short of 30 years. It's a very different job now compared to when I started, but i'd still recommend it.
@gamelee did you really Lee, a very worthwhile career, you will have seen some sights in your time. William is a volunteer fireman in Morrisnville NZ & we also now have our daughter in law in Kinloch near Taupo who has just joined the volunteer fire brigade. William loves being a fire fighter but they seem to do a lot of RTA too.
Great shot.. they do a great job both the volunteers and permanents.. but alot of the job is first response now..
When Mum was unwell one time and I said I think we need to ring for the ambulance... she was t keen as she thought the fire engine may come.. i rang anyway but did get an ambulance.. good on Jo for being a volunteer..
I'm sure William would be interested in English Fire Engines! Perhaps not Erin. Fun finding out about plane destinations- there must be millions of them in the sky all round the world! Barbecued sausages? I learnt about cumberland sausages the other day!
I'm glad it wasn't anything more sinister. I got rather worried when I saw this. You may have been watching my husband flying over - he is a pilot based at Manchester airport.
@dh Yes I remember you saying your husband is a pilot Delena, I expect he flies over our place pretty often, we seem to be under the flight path although we never notice until it's a cloudless sky, they are so far up!
