Pear Tree Cottage

Who would love to live in a house like this?

One of the cute cottages in the village of Scorton yesterday.
Very warm & welcoming it looks too but I am thinking I rather fancy something a little more modern inside now. I love the look of the outside but wondering if it's small & dark.
I have rather had enough of beams etc these days.

The red wheelbarrow is part of the theme of Barrows & Bicycles & has a label on the wheelbarrow saying ' A bit of tarmac to put in the potholes'
As we know in the UK our roads are a disgrace!

Three good things:
1. Family meal tonight sitting out in the sunshine.
2. Lots of painting & cleaning today.
3. A very clean oven thank goodness, I think our tennant only used it for heating food up....a bonus!
It looks very cute .. but I would think it would be a bit dark inside .. I like light and airy .. Thank goodness for the clean oven ... nothing worse than cleaning others grime..

@julzmaioro You are so right Julz, I am thankful for small mercies! Just the carpets were not good! I am beginning to like light & airy too but when winter comes I love my cosy house, a happy medium would be lovely!

Just lovely, I definitely would, but I would miss the privacy of a drive and my garage.

@gamelee yes I have a photo just taken before this one & people are walking right in front & looking right in the windows! No privacy at all.

That happens in a lot of instances - looking in the windows! I think this is just gorgeous - a little garden out the front door and nicely trimmed plants with some in pots! fav

@maggiemae I would have loved to have taken a photo from further away than this but would have had to have stepped right into the road. This cottage was at a sort of V in the road with cars able to go along each side & in front. Not as bad as it sounds as on a usual quiet day there isn't much traffic but this village gets so busy in the summer. It's very pretty I agree.

So sweet , I love the stonework and the stone lintels above the door and windows and the windows are so clean and shinny looking , but I can imagine the size of the rooms - the narrow stair case and small bedrooms ! But lovely to look at and dream !

Love the stonework, it reminds me of my Nanna's cottage.

A very pretty little cottage with beautiful stonework.

A lovely little house to look at. I would hope the back has more light and land.

Beautiful cottage. I could live there!

I always ask those same questions, Pat. Simply gorgeous on the outside, all chocolate box and beautiful garden, but is it tiny inside? A sort of reverse Tardis! I often think this size house would make a great starter home for my son. Perfect for one person or maybe two at a push.

A beautiful cottage. Maybe it’s modern inside!

I have always loved this little stone cottages - but when it comes to where I'd like to live then the more light and the bigger the windows the better.

@casablanca @louannwarren @jocasta @skippysue

Like you I love the look of this type of house & in fact live in a sort of similar type of house of this era but increasingly I am asking myself do I want to go more modern & spacious? The answer us I keep changing my mind. I do love the cosy look but then I am looking at modern & sleek, one day we will move from here so will have to pick! Thank you for your comments.

It certainly does look sweet from the outside, but not many windows.

It's a beautiful cottage. Do you know how old the building is

@digitalrn No I don't Rick, sometimes they have dates on the top but I never noticed one here...seventeen hundreds I expect.

Such a sweet little place, but I know what you mean about older places. Our friends had theirs rethatched, cost about £25000 ten years ago! (and yes, the roads are ghastly!)

@happypat Well you can tell there is age to it and it is beautiful
