I flew into New Zealand this afternoon.
A good if long flight, I can never comprehend how far away my NZ family live until we get on a plane to visit. Seven hours twenty minutes to Dubai then another almost sixteen hours non stop to Auckland.
Anyway I have arrived safely, two half empty planes meant we all pretty much had a row of seats to ourselves, I doubt they will have made any money on those flights specially if you factor in the increasing cost of fuel. Not a very popular time to holiday in New Zealand.
View throught the porthole as the plane aproaches land.
Welcome Pat! Glad to hear you arrived safely, that is a very long flying time. You've arrived just as we start a cold snap, so hope you brought your winter woollies! Look forward to seeing what you photograph around my home country. Where will you be based?
@chikadnz Hi yes I've arrived! I am in Morrinsville at the moment staying with eldest son & daughter in law but on Monday I move to Kinloch to stay with youngest son & family then swap round again around Field Day time in Hamilton. Much later this year, we normally come in February when it's summer!
Fantastic ... That is a long flight but pleased it all went well... Sorry we have turned on a cold snap for you .. but hopefully it warms up a bit more soon... get some nice NZ Marino and layer up.. Enjoy your time with family ..
This looks like it could be the Manukau Bar in the photo .. if thats the case we are about 15 ks down the coast from here ...
A long flight but well worth it to see your family! I visited NZ once when I retired from work and would love to return! Such a beautiful country and such friendly people! Enjoy your holiday!
have a wonderful time Pat. Hope the jet lag doesnt last too long. I hate flying home because it always lasts at least a week for me. We have been enjoying London's sunny weather bu a bit of rain today.
@julzmaioro I was looking out of the window & wondering if your place was a bit further down the coast, I was on the right side of the plane so I imagine you wouldn't be far away, loved those white waves rolling in. I have my new Allbirds do wear!
@dkbarnett Oh that would be great Delwyn, will be in & around Taupo I think. Moving down to other sons in Kinloch next week so hope fully we can arrange a coffee somwhere. Will be in touch when I know what the plans are Delwyn.
This looks like it could be the Manukau Bar in the photo .. if thats the case we are about 15 ks down the coast from here ...
Have a great time!
