My lovely cinema friend has a two year old grandson who has been diagnosed with quite a rare brain tumour.
Charlie is her middle grandson & has today undergone major surgery to remove as much of it as they can. The operation at Manchester Children's Hospital was due to take most of the day, I haven't heard how it's gone yet.
As you can imagine the whole family is going through hell & Dot is looking after five year old Jack & 6 month old Harry.
Today I went into church & lit a candle for Charlie.
#thumbsupforcharlie. This is an online support group to give Charlie & his family good wishes & prayers.
Three good things:
The skill of surgeons, we have our lives in their hands.
2. Cooing of wood pigeons as we had our evening meal outside.
3. Temperatures in the very high twenties today.
Ooh Pat ! so sorry to hear this - I hope by now the op has been completed and successful such a worry for all the family My thoughts and prayers are with the little family ! xx
@thistle Yes Joyce that's the little boy, thank you for sharing.
#thumbsupforcharlie is a support group for the family. If needed he might be lucky to have proton treatment on the NHS but if they cant get funding I think will open a just giving page. I have heard nothing yet how the op has gone.
This is such a dreadful time for them and also for their friends. There is so little you can do except be there for them. I do hope the surgery went OK. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I was really upset when she told me, couldn't believe it. Kept thinking if it was either of our little boys how we would feel. A terrible facing fir the parents. Luckilt Dot looks after them lots & soends time at this house so us very capable of minding both boys while dad & mum are at the hospital. They have been staying in specially available hospital accommodation for this very purpose. No news yet but he will be in ITU for a week. Thank you all & I will pass on your good wishes.
Everyone is so sympathetic and that must help knowing so many are thinking the whole family! I like the lighting candles for someone. Done that myself!
OMG....my heart just sank.
So very sad, it's going to be so hard on the family & Charlie.
I still can't believe how many babies/children are being diagnosed with Brain Cancer.
Sending prayers for them, hope Charlie does well with treatment.
it's very hard to cure.
Our son had Rhabdomyosarcoma,do you know what Cancer it is?
( Hope you don't mind me asking) xx
@skippysue I don't mind at all Susan. The interest & concern has been heartwarming. You will have special knowledge of what this family is going through, it must be an horrendous experience that most of us never have to go through hopefully.
Charlie has an Epondymoma cancer, quite rare I have been told. If all goes well with the op he might be eligible for Proton treatment on the NHS but if not they will need to raise a large amount quickly hence the publicity at the moment to make people aware.
I haven't heard anything yet but my friend said it might be a possibility to meet up with her & youngest one today but no message yet. Last thing I want do to is pester so shall wait for news. You will never forget the time you went through & your son forever in your heart & thoughts but hope you have gained a little peace of mind! It's amazing g how many on 365 have lost children, I can think of three straight of among my followers & friends. Will keep you up to date & thank you.
Oh Pat, it's always so hard seeing small ones go through such traumas. I ache for you and your friends and family. Rooting for little Charlie and praying as I type.
