This is the brand new curling rink at the Flower Bowl. I always think of curling as a sport mostly played in Scotland so to have this new rink so near is quite an exciting thought.
Just staff having a go yesterday. I have the prices for lessons & sessions on the rink & it's quite eye wateringly expensive!
It looks very attractive though & time will tell if it's popular!
A photo taken through glass so not perfect!
Three good things:
1. Lunch out at another garden centre.
2. Unexpectedly meeting two of our former farmer neighbours there & having a good catch up!
3. I have got my case down from the attic again!
Oh that looks like fun.. there is a indoor curling rink in Naseby (SI) .. but never had a go.. Colorful shot.. Getting close for Ireland if the bags out of storage.☘
@julzmaioro Yes 😀 Set off 3.50am Monday morning Julz! Getting the 9am ferry from Holyhead to Dublin then on to Killarney arriving about 6pm so a long day!
@taffy Yes that's it Taffy, the competitors slide the stones or ricks along the ice & sweepers using brooms brush frantically in front of the stone to encourage it I suppose. I have only watched on tv but it looks interesting!
Normally played on ice but this surface looks as if it would work but no need to sweep in front of the stones. There is also whisky drinking involved in this sport! Thats a long day to killarney!
@Dawn Well I might have thought about it but on the leaflet it says £30 pp a go, far too expensive I think though you can get together with others for a lesson but for them people it's £200 so you would have to be very keen. I am going to see Mama Mia tomorrow night there. It's £10 so even that not cheap but apparently you sit on pink sofas with a glass of wine, should be interesting! I will report back!
Lovely colours! We played a 'on wheels' version of this at school - the kids loved it (even my little charge who can't walk)... certainly made me feel like giving it a go :)
