I'm late posting tonight, the phone has never stopped ringing!
I rather like these kissing gates on the walk by the river.
I always thought it meant a gate for kissing by but that's not why it's called a kissing gate, I just checked with google.
Apparently it's because the edge of the gate just kisses the enclosure when it opens & closes.
Great news re Charlie. He's had the go ahead for proton beam therapy & even better funded by the NHS. Ironic that when you are at your lowest point & think all is lost that he didn't meet the criteria for NHS treatment yet when there is hope he qualifies! I can see they wouldn't want to waste public funds but we had all raised the money ready, it will be a fantastic buffer for costs in Germany & to keep the families lives going long term.
Three good things:
1. The wood store is full. Harry went for a large trailer load this morning!
2. Eyebrows trimmed today!
3. We fixed Harry's spare car key by looking at google how to change the battery. A £1.58 battery from Amazon came the next day with no charge postage & had to be signed for! How can you beat that?
I never knew that! We do have lots of them here! A nice walk ahead over the fields. Wonderful for Charlie - always hope. I do like a full wood house - its like money in the winter bank.
There are a couple of kissing gates at Oakvale Farm, they stop some of the animals from passing through to areas they shouldn't be in but allow people easy access.
A lovely capture and information - like you I also thought a Kissing gate was a place for a kiss !! and I think I still prefer that explanation - much more romantic ( Just woken up read your comment , slept most of the evening -now its 11 .45 pm. !!! )
We always make them kissing gates - whoever goes through first, holds the gate shut and the remaining family members have to pay a toll of a kiss before we open it again! Crazy family tradition but fun. Lovely shot and great news about young Charlie too.
A really lovely photo, great composition. We have exactly the same tradition as Casablanca, in fact I never knew that that wasn’t what a kissing gate was for. I think we’ll stick with our tradition 😁😁.
Beautiful picture of the kissing gate.
