View from HMS Britannia

While we were in Edinburgh we travelled to Leith on the first afternoon & visited the Royal Yacht Britannia. As you can imagine I have lots of photos of the inside which I will post sometime, unusually there was no ban on taking photos.
I liked the way this ship docked in the port glowed in the late afternoon sun.

Three good things:
1. Our granddaughter Lydia applied for her very first job as a Speech Therapist last week. She went for her interview last Thursday thinking it would be just good practice & got the job! Based in Lancaster she will be going round communities & into schools in the area. She has to finish uni first in January but then her first job!
2. Charlie & his family have travelled to Essen in Germany for his proton beam therapy treatment, hoping all will go well for him.
3. I have started writing the Christmas cards, I have never been as early but we have lots on in December so want them all done in next two weeks.
What a beautiful view and a delightful glow from the afternoon sun. I love your 3 good things! I have never been so late with the Christmas cards ... I usually make them from a photograph and always hand write a letter, but I haven't got the right photo this year and so I'll have to buy ... which I haven't done yet! Oh, woe is me! I better get my act together!

Boo
ooh love the moody sky and the warm glow and the sea ooh and they bouy. How exciting that Charlie is on his way...fingers crossed for him. Good luck to your granddaughter she will be great.
I haven't made the photo for the cards yet, but plan on doing that tomorrow. I like to get it all out of the way before the 1st of December, then I get to enjoy the whole of December when everyone runs around like made turkey's...hahaha Actually I met a mad turkey once...he lives on a farm in Wales.

@jamibann @huvesaker I think you two would get on!! Both the same ideas at Christmas. I always mean to take a beautiful photo but then forget! I bought Country Living last week, I like to have a few up to date magazines for the visitors & love the Christmas ones. I was just thinking that when it snows photographers must go out & get a real back load of snowy pictures to last the a year or two! Turkeys can be territorial! Gobble gobble!

@happypat Thank you ... maybe if I could get some snow, quickly, I'd be able to get my cards made yet! All is not yet lost!

Big fav for this fabulous shot, Pat. Congrats to Lydia! I was interested in studying speech therapy when I was at home looking after the children but nowhere local to do it. My work with dyslexic students later in life was a consolation and v interesting.

Beautiful light and the contrast with the threatening sky is fabulous. I might crop out a bunch of the foreground water if you are open to critique

You could crop it so you still have the red reflections and put the boat on 1/3 line both vertically and horizontally

Wonderful sunlight against the dark sky.

Wow drama with that sky and the bright ship! I loved the Royal Yacht Britannia...I have to say, the royal family do 'attractions' beautifully and I thought the yacht and all its stories were a fascinating insight.

Its so good to see what you saw at this time here! It has an English feel about it. I do hope we can see Britannia - not a hotel as yet!
Lydia is the best and the best is yet ahead for Charlie!

@maggiemae Thank you maggie, I doubt Britannia will ever be a Hotel. It’s very popular as it is & a fascinating place to visit. You can hire it for wedding receptions & corporate occasions but very pricy I woukd imagine. I have lots more photos of the inside so when I have nothing else they will pop up!
