Making a start packing our things up, starting with the pictures.
Taken all the pins out, filling any holes up, sanding & painting over with the right paint which I have left over.
Three good things:
1. Setting off early tomorrow to drive to Manchester Airport to pick our granddaughter Alex & her fiancé up, the have been to the Nashville Country Music awards & New Orleans. Staying with us for a week or two on their way home to NZ.
2. I stocked the freezer up for hungry people!
3. Our last tenants left a load of moving boxes in the shed!
Ooh Pat - I am sure your happiness will be mingled with apprehension , sadness and lots of happy memories as you dismantle and look at all your pictures . It will be good to have Alex and fiancé there for a week or two, to give a little hiatus in the mad packing etc ! Doesn't a room look so alien without all your familiar belongings around you !
@beryl I was just looking for you Beryl.....yes you’re right it looks completely alien & this is the room that has the gallery of photos all along one wall so it’s strange. All in boxes now in newspaper. Hoping that the holiday makers might give a hand with stuff out of the attic, such a long way to bring them down three flights of stairs!
Oh....the pictures add so much meaning to rooms and the being of the family. But it is also good to refresh and tell the stories in different ways. How lovely to have Alex and other half coming just at this point in time.
The many pictures I found were difficult to find a place on the new walls. Most are now in a cupboard. You will miss them. Take care down those 3 lots of stairs -no accidents allowed!
A house really begins to look sad as the pictures are removed from the walls. I don't envy you the packing. We have had 16 moves, three of them international, but to be honest it was the closest moves that were the most stressful because on those moves you just don't pack 'everything' there are some things you decide you can take in your cars and that takes just as much time and effort.
Moving is very emotional, exciting but scary and definitely hard work. It will be lovely to have Alex to stay for a while, with Simon. It must be hard having your grandchildren live so far away.
