Poulton Le Fylde by happypat

Poulton Le Fylde

I rarely go to this small town even though it’s only three miles away.
I needed some hearing aid batteries (a long story!) so popped in this morning. It’s a nice place but I just feel out of my area. We always went to Garstang when at the other farm so continue to turn left at the end of the road.

Three good things:
1. Slightly warmer today but miserable weather.
2. We have had a surveyor round for a couple of hours this afternoon, a much more intensive inspection than the one last week....hope we pass, it’s not easy in old houses!
3. Our first new potatoes, absolutely delicious with butter!
The one thing I miss after giving up our allotment is new potatoes. You just cannot buy the same tasty new potatoes.

I remember having new potatoes straight from the garden at a relative’s house in the country as a child

Love your #3. I remember the new potatoes from my father-in-law's garden. Too long ago...

Your rabbit warren of country roads will take you to so many little towns/villages with interesting names! No leaks in the ceiling and the heating goes - should be find with the survey!

Looks like a lovely town. I am going to try container planting of potatoes for next year. People, in my Facebook gardening group, say they use 5 gallon buckets and grow several pounds per bucket.

Lovely scene. Interesting for me too, a relative of mine was station signalman at Poulton le Fylde railway station according to the 1911 census.
