No internet or telephone today after the chap delivering our skip at 7am this morning broke the wire.
According to our neighbour he had six skips piled up & of course we were first delivery.
The internet was very much missed, although a very restful night with no commenting!
Three good things:
1. Prompt service from Open Reach who turned up after lunch but decided they needed the crane. It didn’t turn up so they came back this morning & now we are all systems go!
2. Harry & I had a great time chucking stuff in the skip all day, it’s over half full already!
3. I was ashamed how many bottles, sprays, polishes etc etc I had under the sink....I must never throw any away, just get a new one & push it inside the cupboard without bending my back to remove the almost empty ones.
Ooh Pat I wondered where were you yesterday - - you really must have felt cut off from the world ! but at least you got busy with the skip !! I am also guilty of a cupboard full of cleaning things ! which I haven't used for years !! A lovely view across your grass - nicely mowed and of a good colour with all this rain !
@beryl Harry & I have come to the conclusion that we should get a small skip every few years, we keep far too much stuff & it’s good to chick out! Loved throwing stuff in & it’s so liberating not having much clutter! We had stuff from our farming days which we won’t need any more.
@maggiemae It was a bit of a farce really. One man & a lad came, looked at the problem, decided to send for the crane, sat in they van having tea & my homemade biscuits. At 3.30pm they heard crane was too far away so they decided they would go back & return in the morning. We watched as they parked up down the road to fill time in before home time. Another chap came this morning & we had to explain the job again to him. He sent for the telescopic lift but yesterday whole afternoon was a waste of time....men working hard, they have no idea!
really is!!!
