That time of the year again..... by happypat

That time of the year again.....

I went outside today!!
Took a walk to the end of our lane, turned round went the other way to the bottom & back up through our field!
I did not want to go but my word I enjoyed it once I set off.
Harry ticked me off, said I shouldn’t have gone out of the gate.....too late now & I never saw anyone else. 😨😷

Three good things:
1. Digging over the potato plot we found half a plastic bag of new potatoes growing from last years shoots. Will be delicious tonight with butter!
2. We have managed to source some seed potatoes, Cathy found us some Maris Piper & I ordered some Rocket. Everyone’s new hobby it seems, we are all in our gardens!
3. I am liking this slower pace of life.
Those of us in a rural setting who can get out for some fresh air are enjoying the slower pace of life.
I sure would not like it if I were in a small apartment and not able to get fresh air and sunshine (well clouds and rain actually)

I've been walking our beach daily. We even went for a bike ride. Fresh air is good for my mental health!

I now have soil envy! That looks lovely soil, not like the clay we have been turning over in the veggie beds, we add compost every year but the clay seems to win!

Well done looking good

We are trying to do some garden work every day. Bought some new plants. So glad we live in a rural part of the country.

I think when you get told you have to stay in than you just have to go out.

@judithdeacon We used to have clay soil in our our old farm but when we moved here 21 years ago the lovely soil was a bonus. Harry does add compost to it too.

@farmreporter Yes I agree Wendy, that would be a nightmare, we must count our blessings!

@kwind I did feel loads better when I had been outside....

@newbank @gijsje I think everyone seems to be taking to the garden....hard to get stuff though...our garden places seem to be all shut.

@pennystot @joansmor Yes coming on......I must say i haven’t felt the need to go out just yet Joan but we have been gadding about in New Zealand for last month so glad to wind down.

Busy tidying up the garden and weeding. Pity we haven't any new plants to brighten it up

We have fruit trees, which until have 'survived' rather than thrived. Our neighbour has some tall/large trees which rob our orchard garden of light. Tree surgeons would be needed to re-establish light to make our orchard effective.

So good to have his exercise in doing a job he likes - just think new potatoes within a few of months

Gardens are popping up here like crazy! I walk my neighborhood. The rare person I see, we always walk on opposite sides of the street. As long as everyone keeps their distance it’s okay to be out and about exercising. Well it’s a different life for sure.

Nice that Harry has his garden. I grew 2 different varieties last summer and one was rocket. I will be trying for them again this year - beautiful flavour, waxy and stay together when boiled. And an early cropper too. Hope you’re doing ok at home again.

A good time to plant those new potatoes. Our daughter in Manchester is about to plant potatoes for the first time!

Nice shot. At the moment we only get out if we go to the grocery store

That's great to see.....I know there are still some potatoes in Mum's garden.....must see if they're any good.
Just heard Alan Titchmarsh talking on radio about the significant loss if all the plants in garden centres are just left. 😟

Good for you ☺️👍

Some hard work is better than exercising as long as you do not overdo it. Nothing like some work in the garden when the sun is out.
Haven't hd time for the garden last week because we had some kgood rain throughout and I don't like to step on the soik when it is wet. Lovely capture.
