Stocking up

Harry has been sawing up a fallen tree today.
The tree belonged to our neighbour who has her own wood....she has half & we have half.
Good hard wood so we are thankful!

Three good things:
1. No walking today... I feel guilty not going but having a rest!
2. I managed to transfer some money over online....
3. Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson...the name of the prime ministers baby son. My dads name!
You can’t have too much firewood! That’s a great boy’s name, so important sounding.

I think Harry is like Ray who also likes to be busy!

That's a big job particularly if you have to split the wood! Do you think this new PM's son is going to be called, Willie?

@maggiemae I do hope not maggie but it will be inevitable in some quarters I would think! He has a load of hair like his dad!

Nothing better than being organised with firewood. We don’t have a fire, but I love the look and cosiness of one. Good that Harry has a few chores to keep busy with as men don’t sit and relax easily!

We stocked up on logs a few weeks ago and a couple of days ago we lit our woodburner for the first time. Luckily we only need to light it in an evening as daytime it isn't too cold.

Great shot. He didn't saw the logs with a hand saw, did he? Surely not.

Whilst we have a reasonable amount left from Winter, we await mid-Summer before we take another delivery. Thereafter, we'll take out all the existing wood from store, stack the new, restock last year's remains...await cooler weather.

@sangwann No a chain saw thankfully!!

@onewing We still have ours on after tea Babs, it’s surprisingly cool still in the evening! We like to be warm!

@dide He’s busy all day Dianne.....too bust to come on walks with me!! We have two acres here so it’s good he always has a job to keep him busy. He helps our neighbour lots too!

@jgpittenger @phil_howcroft @nickspicsnz @momamo

He’s used to working 24/7 all year round!

@s4sayer You sound organised Margo....we seem to have used a lot this winter, I think it went on earlier perhaps. We normally have two trailer loads but this hardwood is all free! If we ever sell this place before winter it will all have to be shifted again!

I can feel his effort... some years ago we had a 'real' fire and I got an axe to chop some dried logs with (husband had recently left and it felt good to let off a bit of steam...his face when he heard that the basketful was chopped by me was a picture!) My friend told me that wood warms you three times...once when you chop it and once when you burn it but I forget the third....!
