Warkworth is a very nice town. A bit more upmarket than Amble perhaps & we spent time wandering around. Monday was closing day but the younger ones walked to the beach & us older two sat in a lovely cafe/restaurant & had a very nice lunch. We opted for outside even though we were allowed to eat in from today.
I walked up to the castle while Harry sat on the market cross steps.
Met up with the others & back to the cafe where I ordered a raspberry Bakewell cake. It was massive & fed three of us for pudding!
Here we are meeting up.
A good thing.....Harry rang up to ask the builders to put out the green bins ....they had already done it...they were still working at 6pm & had got all the Velux windows in & is Phil’s birthday!
Dedication!
What a lovely break you are having. I've been on Google to see where you are. .... very east coast!! Enjoy!
And what fantastic team working on your house!
I recognise that! Just down to the right by the Greenhouse and off down by the river and there’s our favourite cottage and off to the left past the church is a lovely river walk which used to involve rowing boats for hire (sadly gone). Monty had such a happy time there! Better food & ice cream in Amble though it is more of a working town. Alnmouth further along also has a couple of nice pubs and a wild lovely beach (not for swimming). Barter Books in Alnwick also a treat and you can’t beat the beaches at Bamborough and Embleton. I won’t recommend our favourite walks because of Harry’s hip (my back wouldn’t like them either at the mo!) but you can get a lovely crab lunch at Newton by the Sea & some lovely spots for Connie to run!
@judithg It would have been lovely to do all those things you mention Judith sadly we were very limited by a hip this time! Harry enjoyed it all but was not himself so much....we will go back again & hopefully do much more. Cathy suggested the book shop...I have been before but the weather was lovely so we walked along the coast instead. Harry was parked up with his paper!
@happypat I’ve been feeling for him not least because I’m hampered by my back and I realise it’s frustrating but he’s in pain as well. Hopefully they’ll be able to tell you what’s wrong and come up with a solution soon.
