A beautiful unspoilt beach , Amble is the place to go if you want quiet & places to walk along the seashore.
You can see Coquet Island in the distance, this is managed by The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds. As it happens my niece & Goddaughter happens to be married to the head RSPB man who manages all the North East of England & Cumbria so this is one of the islands he oversees!
Over 400,000 birds return to the island each Spring & there is a very large Puffin colony.
Three good things:
1. I have at last decided on the final layout of our kitchen.
2. Harry & I were helped by visiting our nieces kitchen, the same fitter is putting ours in.
3. Harry has had the result if his X-Ray. He now needs a blood test but nearest appointment was 10th June but by perseverance I have got him a blood test this Saturday in Kirkham.
Great spot for a 'amble'.. love to see puffins one day..
Great to have more plans settled..
Good for you not to settle for the first option a dig a bit further soon all rests are done the better..
@busylady no I don’t think so Judith, they have boat trips round the island but no visitors as far as I know. Yes I’ve just checked, private boat trips round & there is a webcam.
What a delightful spot Pat - so unspoilt ! Its so difficult to get medical appointments - but so glad you persevered to get Harry a sooner blood test than was 1st offered - hope all goes well !
Crumbs 10th June for a blood test! Good work sorting that! That RSPB job sounds incredible! Nige, Adam and his friend did surf school on Amble beach - just about sufficient surf!
@judithg Honestly Judith, surgeries are like Fort Knox. Was having a good grumble at ours & the telephone appointments but the surgery in Garstang where they sent us for a allegedly sooner appointment was terrible. I had to ring the bell, state my case & wait until they decided to come & see what I wanted! She sent me back to our surgery where I asked them to check other surgeries that did blood tests. Was lucky to get such a quick appointment. So scary if you have something serious!
So lovely up there. Oh I so ready for a break and see the sea..but this weather! Wanted start sorting out inside the new summer house too. So wet down there
Beautiful beach scene!
We needed blood work for our annual health exam but the lab we usually go to was closed! I made an appt for 3 weeks out at the next closest lab. That was the 1st appt available!
@sangwann No you can’t Dione but there are private boat tours that go round the island....not sure how near they go, quite a few rocks around there I think. There is a lighthouse on the island.
A lovely view.Is your niece lucky enough to visit Coquet Island,as I know it's a sanctuary and no public are allowed.Last time I was up there,I did visit the Farne Islands when the Puffins and other birds were nesting.I'd never visited in all the years I was living there.
@sangwann . You can visit the nearby Farne Islands by boat dropping off on Inner Farne to see the Puffins and other birds nesting in Spring and summer,or take a boat trip in Autumn to see the seals and babies.
This is a beautiful image, Pat. Absolutely gorgeous! And what an interesting job that must be with the RSPB. Good work getting Harry such a timely blood test.
