One of the good things in my life has been the friendship with the Irish singer Daniel O’Donnell.
Harry & I first went to one of his concerts in 1994 at Preston Guild Hall.
Harry really enjoyed it but he has fallen by the wayside but I have continued to follow him.
I joined the Northwest DOD Association almost thirty years ago & through that association have made loads of friends, traveled all over the place & enjoyed some fun filled holidays with the girls!
This unassuming man brings great joy to his supporters & will spend many hours meeting, chatting & ringing anyone up who he feels needs cheering up.
Our little group feel privileged to know him & be his friend.
I have taken him to airports, sat next to him at out annual dinner dance, he also took two of us out to lunch one year after our Dinner dance.
I have been to concerts in Auckland & many other towns & cities.
Last night he was in Blackpool & the almost full theatre was so glad to be back out singing & enjoying ourselves for three hours just as much as he did!
I actually don’t play his music much outside the concerts but he is a born entertainer & we all have a ball.
@brennieb I looked for you Brennie….you were missed! He was on top form & two new girl singers. Bernie couldn’t go as she tested positive but we are going to Llandudno. Can’t let her miss can we?
Hubby and I very much love Irish music. I just counted our Irish CDs. We have 101, but how is it possible that we have never heard of Daniel O'Donnell?
@busylady Harry & I spent the Millennium night watching Cliff in Birmingham. It was a very different NY than normal for us as we were still milking so got the time off. Enjoy your concert when the time comes…it feels so good to be out again singing!
@onewing It was…after being cooped up so long it was like being released. Hoping we all kept safe but never gave anything like that a thought while we were there. 🤞🏻
How awesome!! Love this narrative and photo! I'm thrilled that you were able to enjoy a wonderful evening out and about after a seemingly endless shutdown!
Great capture of him on stage. He must be an all-rounder and that is why he is loved by all. To be honest I have never heard the name before, but then I am not very much a music lover, unless they are classics.
@ladymagpie He’s still going strong Heather & has an album in the charts every year for the last 25 years I think, the only singer to be able to say that!
