I took a friend for an eye test this afternoon in Garstang.
It was market day so stalls the full length of the High Street.
The morning time is much busier so by the time we got there it was easier to walk along the footpath.
Three good things:
1. Eileen treated me to a coffee afterwards.
2. Called at another friends on the way home & she has lent me two books she got for Christmas. The Familiers & The Foundling by Stacy Halls. I had a little read of the first one & they look good.
3. I had a call from the NHS arranging my referral appointment for a hip operation.
@busylady I was a bit shocked Judith. I think I will still be a long way down the list….I only got myself on the list thinking it would be at least three years before anything would be done. There are lots far worse than me, I’m actually not ready yet for a new hip but we will get on the next stage.
Looks like a lovely day for it! Nice street scene. My home town of Loughborough always has an excellent market ( not so much now I believe). Lincoln has an indoor market, which I think is set to be refurbished.
@boxplayer Well I’m not sure…I don’t feel I’m ready just yet but thought I would get on the list as it will be a long job….I’m sure it’s only the beginning of a long wait!
@carolmw@carole_sandford@denful I like a good market to stroll along but I’m ashamed to say I rarely buy anything. Garstang market is big & they must do OK. Great Eccleston have a market on a Wednesday but it’s very small.
So lovely to see the street market operating ion such a glorious sunny day . Ooh I do like such a market , but we have in Wellington a permament Market Place - opened on 4 days a week . We thought it would close a couple of years ago , but the council have had some grant or other and the place with the help of the Market Place people have rejuvenate the whole place - opening various cafe outlets in one part . I didn't realise you were having trouble with your hips - better to get on the stepladder early ! and hope it will be sooner than later !
So nice see a busy market..such a lot have gone now.though Leek near to us is a quite busy one and Bakewell Is always packed...oh hip op, it's this getting ..ahem a little bit older .x
@beryl@sarah19@beryl
Well I feel a bit if a fraud with the hip to be honest. It dies curtail my walking somewhat but everyday life is fine. I’m expecting to have to wait a few years for the op so thought I would get my name down quick.
There is an indoor market too in Garstang Beryl….open every day inside an old stone building…the market hall.
That shop has got the wrong name on it, it says Whites but there are all different coloures on those hangers. They are not doing my washing. Nice capture FAV.
@ladymagpie@susiemc Whites is a really good shop selling all types of shoes, boots, slippers etc. good makes too. They also sell clothes for men & women…Barbour, White Stuff, Jules etc…..it’s been hard for them keeping going this last couple of years…I do my best! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hope the hip thing works out at just the right time!! x

You are better to get on a list for your hip. They can go from being ok to being a pain in no time.
