Harry had his carpel tunnel operation this afternoon.
I dropped him off at 2pm & went to do a bit of shopping. It looked really quiet when I dropped him off & he was the only orthopaedic case in so instead of going home I went back to the hospital & had a coffee & read my book.
Turned out he didn’t go down until 5.20pm so quite a long wait!
Taken from my seat in the cafe.
Three good things:
1. My kindle in my bag….I was perfectly happy waiting.
2. Fish & chips on the way home.
3. The injection to numb the area has improved much since last time….no painful one injection rather lots of little ones….so much better. That’s the bit Harry was dreading.
Poor Harry - he has been in the wars! All these little health problems are aggravating. Some, not so little!
Nice light area for a cafe which from here doesn't look like a cafe. As long as the seats are comfy!
Thank you all for your kind comments, they are all much appreciated by the patient.
He had a good night & managed to dress himself, even tie his laces, this morning before he did his usual 7am walk for the paper & milk.
This is the entrance foyer of Blackpool Victoria Hospital & I was looking out from the cafe area.. Very quiet as it’s late in a Saturday afternoon, normally lots of people about.
This is the first of two ops Harry has to have on his hand.
I've had both hands operated on for Carpal tunnel, it was ten years ago. They even let me watch them do it! The thumb muscles are still tender when pressed, but it's !00% better than the numbness and pain I was putting up with.
@gamelee Yes they let Harry watch too…..he’s taken the dressing off now so the swelling has gone down lots. Plaster on & he’s taking painkillers but he even managed to tie his shoelaces the morning after the op. He had his other hand done in Chorley hospital a long time ago.
@jamibann He’s doing fine thanks Issi. When he recovers from this one he has to have another on the same hand for Dupuytrens contracture. That needs a general anaesthetic strangely….he has had all his ops with a local so that will be a new experience!
