We are very lucky to have this facility in Great Eccleston. A former bank it was bought by a villager & turned into a centre where you can have meetings or any simple office work done on the photocopier, etc etc.
Run by volunteers it provides coffee & soup everyday & more on a Thursday. A place to meet friends where it’s warm & friendly.
The history society meet here, yoga & fitness groups etc .
Today there was a Coronation afternoon tea with Prosecco & a band.
Very enjoyable but I did look round & think I had suddenly become old! I’m usually the one helping!
Ah well we all enjoyed it! Around 50 attended. In contrast to yesterday it’s poured with rain most of the day & as there is a nice garden at the back it’s a pity we couldn’t have outside.
How delightful! Such a wonderful way to get together with friends. You are the youngest 'old' person on the planet, Pat. Your energy and joie de vivre are remarkable.
Places like these & village halls etc are certainly the life blood of communities. We need places like these & even more so when we get older.
They are alway asking for volunteers & in theory I should offer my services but I have got lazy….not in body but spirit. I seem to have so much on my mind over the years farming, B&B etc & then the move & renovation I just can’t be bothered!
"Community Spaces" are really important in our Society, we must ensure many stay open. Our camera club meet at a community centre , I take Willow and Alfie to various groups in church halls, community centres , council spaces. As for feeling old , you are always young at heart Pat , you are tech savvy posting photos onto social media like 365 !
This is fabulous and really well attended. In Ballater we have 'The Halls' for this type of event. A group of different sized meeting rooms, used for everything from emergency gatherings, yoga classes, highland dance lessons, jumble sales, town hall meetings, WI meetings, History Group meetings, Horticultural shows, concerts, film showings, ... We are very lucky.
