Sculpture in the City by jamibann

Sculpture in the City

On Monday we walked for miles round the city of London. I had hoped to go and see the 'Rising Tide' - a set of sculptures in the Thames, calling attention to our dependence on fossil fuels and potential climate change. https://www.edenproject.com/visit/whats-on/the-rising-tide-sculpture - if you're interested. However, I was very disappointed to discover that it had only been a temporary exhibition and that it finished at the end of February. I did find some sculptures in the city though that I hadn't seen before. Being a cyclist, this one caught my eye in particular - 'Forever' by Ai WeiWei, a massive structure outside the front of the Gherkin.
Like it! At quick glance on tiny screen it looks like old mattress springs

It looks massive! It must be quite a sight to see for yourself. Helen's description of bedsprings is quite apt and brought a smile.

This looks like it is using up all the bicycle wheels. Great find

Great shot with all the different patterns. I'm hoping to see an Ai WeiWei exhibition here soon too.

@gaylewood You can't imagine how gutted I was to find the horses were no longer there ... they SO should have made it a permanent sculpture! Ah well.

Found it, Issi! Yes! Such a neat piece of artwork and I love the composition of your piece. We got it just this past summer, I believe. I'm not sure for how long, but it really is dizzying and amazing, isn't it?

@emrob How cool that you took the trouble to find this image! Not sure if the London version was temporary or not, but I loved it!!! The building behind it is the Gherkin, another very cool London structure.
