We always knew this house as the 'thrupenny bit hoose' and still do, as it happens. It sits at the entrance to the old bridge of Dee. It was the Toll House for the bridge, but is now a dwelling house. It's a late 19th Century listed building, and was completely octagonal until the extension was added at a later date. For me, it's another of the landmarks I pass when driving from our home in Ballater to my father's home in Braemar.
Such a charming old homestead, and I adore seeing photos of your birthplace homeland! When you throw in your accent, I feel I've just come to know you better!
@Weezilou Thanks Louise - there's lots more accent where that came from - and the longer I am here the stronger it becomes. Just as well I leave again on Friday! ;-)
