From Saturday, this will be our closest metro station, as we move into Paris for 6 months. I found a flat to rent ages ago, but last night was the first time that hubby had seen it. He does trust me, doesn't he?! Anyway, I got the tick of approval, phew! Small but bijou is how I'd describe it. It'll take a bit of getting used to, living in the city, and in 57 square metres, when we've been used to the suburbs and 145 square metres. Anyway, cleaning the place will be easier, and there'll be precious little cooking for 6 months as cooking facilities and equipment are not 'top'. Great excuse to eat out and enjoy Paris to the full.
However, a lot of work to get done between now and the weekend ...
@gamelee That's the plan Lee ... the temporary move was forced on us because of the sale of our house going through quicker than anticipated, but we thought we should take advantage and move to the city and make it a fun experience.
@squamloon I have no idea either, but as our apartment is just off the Rue de Passy, I will be checking out no. 56 and will let you know what is there today!
@jamibann I'll be iunterested to hear if they still own it. You just prompted me to do a little googfling, and it would appear that the main classrooms moved to the Boulevard St Germain just three years ago. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NYU_Paris
This sounds like a wonderful short term situation. Jim and I lived in a similarly tiny, with minimal cooking facilities, place in the city last year when we rented through the winter. While small (we could never live that close long term!), it was so easy to take care of, and we had so few things of our own there to deal with, that it felt like a nonstop vacation. We did take advantage of the restaurant scene, and easy access. BUT, we LOVED getting into a normal size home at last!! Have fun!
Living in Paris for 6 months would be a total dream for me. I'm looking forward to viewing your upcoming photos. So exciting! I hope everything goes well between now and the weekend. :-)
