Until I get into Paris. Photograph opportunities are limited until then as firstly it is raining all the time at the moment and secondly I am stuck inside packing boxes and cleaning and so have limited time! However, I'll be sharing some day to day images until I get some more interesting photo opportunities.
Yesterday my final cycle outing with the club was cancelled due to bad weather, so I spent the day in the basement instead. Here's an eclectic selection of stuff laid out in preparation for the 'Scotland' pick up tomorrow morning. Two more nights to go in this house.
Oh dear poor you ... I guess you got to look ahead to the positives.. and a great chance to declutter... says she that has only had one shift in her life ... from the family home to where we are now when I got married 42 years ago ... the declutter thing would be a great idea..
@julzmaioro Ha ha ... I have never lived anywhere more than 4.5 years. Ever. I am an expert packer! I think this will my 28th house move and our 15th since we've been married. Decluttering is very cathartic and it does make you realise how little you actually need, but how much we actually want. We currently have the tv sitting on a cardboard box and are using a trunk as a coffee table. And it's perfect. But, no, we want nice things around us, don't we? It's a funny thing, and it does make you think about the consumerism of it all!
@jamibann
Oh Issi, I know this feeling well, I'm doing the exact same thing as we speak. I am decluttering in a major way for an anticipated move back to the UK in a year. In the meantime, I'm looking after someone's house, so don't need my stuff at all! You are right about how little we actually need.
Like you I have moved a lot and usually am good at packing. But for some reason this time, I cannot get on with it! It has to be done eventually (by the 22nd), so I guess that will be my motivation.
Shots of the moving process are always good records for yourself, so don't worry about doing anything else!
@dibzgreasley It's nice to know that someone else is doing a similar thing! I have a big gap in my project when we moved to France from the US 3.5 years ago - I just lost the ability and time for it all. But now I regret the gap. This time, I'm trying really hard to keep it up throughout. My new portable computer is helping as the main one is now packed and will be in storage for 6 months. Good luck at your end!
It's no fun having to pack up and move. But it is a great way to declutter and weed out unnecessary things. I find myself in a position now where I need to declutter and not due to moving. I have decided that since there are boxes that have not been unpacked since we moved here 13 or so years ago I must go through them and donate, sell or throw away the contents. My enthusiasm for this task is not being assisted by the weather (our daily average temperature is in the high 30s and early 40s Celsius). I do wish you luck with your move though.
ooooh, I thought you'd taken us to an antique shop! I love perusing! It's a task I know, so I should tell you, (God's Honest Truth!) at this very moment I'm hearing Les Paul and Mary Ford playing "Poor People of Paris"!!! Oh, the interconnection!
i can so relate to this as I'm in the midst of a mess sorting, packing and moving too! Such chaos in my life this week!!! Happy packing - although I don't know if there is such a thing as happy packing :)
Eclectic, indeed! Quite a variety of items...did you have to pack everything up in boxes for the moving van? That's a lot of work and I'm sure this is just a small section of the entire packing job. I hope everything goes well these next two days. You must be incredibly organized to keep these major moves running smoothly. :-)
@gaylewood I packed all our trunks and just laid out everything else in pretty much one place. I needed to sort through it all to separate out everything I need in Paris, and not have too much there - we're hoping to move that lot back gradually in suitcases. I'll be over to Scotland and back quite a lot - keeping an eye on the work on the house there.
