Abergairn Castle by jamibann

Abergairn Castle

It was a dull day yesterday and so I went out for a walk with the local 50+ walkers - a first for me. A very short walk, but to a place I'd never been. These are the ruins of Abergairn Castle, built in 1614, possibly as a hunting lodge. We held a 2 minute silence at 11 am in honour of the fallen. Lest We Forget.
A beautiful place to hold the 2 minute silence, very poignant.
You are brave going on a group walk! I always find I am desperate to move on a bit quicker but naturally, they have to go at the pace of the slowest member. I don't do them anymore, impatient person that I am lol. Not to mention, one of the rewards of walking to me is peace and quiet and no people except the ones I am with. Bliss!

A beautiful place to hold your silence - it must have been very moving. I did a few group walks with The Ramblers a few years ago and unfortunately the leader was a fell runner and they all took off at a stupid speed. I like to enjoy my walk and take photos on the way so I was at the back of the group unlike Casablanca @casablanca!! I gave the group walking up as it was too stressful!! LOL!!

@pamknowler Ha ha, oh my! The opposite end of the scale! But I wouldn't walk with a fell runner either. When we saw one up at the top of Blencathra after our puffed out climb up the steep slopes and this shorts and lycra clad person jogged by without sounding out of breath or tired at all, we turned to each other and said "well, you always get your lunatic fringe, don't you?" Each to their own, eh?

@casablanca @pamknowler Ha ha ... I’m à Casablanca type walker and constantly in trouble on group walks for being out in front! It’s very difficult to walk at a pace which is not your natural pace - whether slow or fast. I will be an occasional participant on these Monday walks!!!
