Strange name for a hill. This small hill on the Balmoral Estate is entirely surrounded by a drystone dyke. We have no idea why, other than perhaps to separate the trees from the moorland. But again, why?
The dry stone wall looks very old...perhaps it was there long before those trees...they look tall & a good age but walls can be there for a very long time.
Although they're tall, they look like fairly young trees- maybe there used to be a structure inside the dyke at some point which is now underground. Time to find some locals who might have the answers for your questions. I like the addition of your husband for scale.
