We had a long day yesterday as we'd planned to walk two fairly remote munros. We set off early from the car park at the Linn of Dee on our mountain bikes and cycled up to the ruins of Geldie Lodge to start our walk. En route we passed this remote cottage. We wondered how someone had managed to drive up here as no cars are allowed, other than estate workers' vehicles, but as we cycled around the back of this house we realised that building work was going on, and this was one of the weekend worker's vehicle and tent. We covered a total of 42km; on bike (24 km) and on foot (18 km). I fell off my bike on the way back, but fortunately emerged unscathed! A great day out! Our fish and chip supper last night was very welcome.
@casablanca Yes. It gave me pause for thought. At 60 years of age, you really don't want to be falling off a bike. My landing was relatively soft though, and I think my rucksack helped cushion me a bit.
That does sound as though you truly earned the F&C! A lovely scene indeed and a very long day. I think I'd have been tempted to nip out that pesky car!
Remote but, fantastic scenery....Issi you both amaze me 42 km...you must be fit I am so pleased you didn't hurt yourself...Fish & chips for dinner Great!
Wow that was a day....you are so well matched you two....so good that you can enjoy the same sort of things! I bet you aren’t even stiff today either! Glad there was no injury! The Braemar residents we know are in the Lakes for the week, Cathy & Garth plus Connie were up to see them yesterday in Hawkshead.
So pleased you are unhurt!
Love the remote cottage!
