Meet Brian and Fiona. Brian is a cousin of one of my very best friends. However, we never knew him until one day hubby had a chance meeting with him on a fishing beat on the Dee a few years ago. They got to chatting and discovered that we were all going to the same wedding in New York - his cousin, my friend's, son! We had fun with them at the wedding in NYC (and subsequent wedding of my friend's daughter last year) and we meet up with them every now and then as they live in Aboyne, very close to us.
They have a lovely story. They were childhood sweethearts, and thought they'd marry. They went to live in France to follow Fiona's dream. However, her dream was not his, and they split up. Brian returned to the UK to set up his own business. They both married other people, and Fiona had two lovely daughters. They both divorced at some stage, and met up again in Scotland, many years later. They got married on Fiona's 60th birthday last year!
I love their story, and was delighted to meet one of Fiona's daughters, Amélie, at this, the Ballater Anglers' annual barbecue, yesterday.
