Yesterday I was invited to my friend's house in Aberdeen for a lunch to celebrate her daughter Rachael's forthcoming wedding. It was a lovely lunch. I didn't do well on the photography front though, even though I'd taken my camera, and had full intentions of taking lots of shots, it just didn't work out. Sometimes it just feels too intrusive. So, here we are - the table before all the guests arrived.
I know what you are saying there, I don't always take my camera to social things. It does feel intrusive, particularly if they are indoor events. This is a lovely photo.
A beautiful scene and one they'll treasure! Always tricky to know when it's okay or welcome to photograph. At the rehearsal dinner last night, I figured my niece would not want her aunt running around with a camera, so didn't bring it. Ended up being the photographer with only my iPhone as she decided in the end she wanted photos but hadn't asked anyone. Oh well...lots of candids but few 'good' shots!
That's the time element I was trying to find @randystreat ! This is genteel and quietly elegant! I simply wouldn't have resisted bringing my camera! I always tell the host that "my gift" includes sending the assortment of photos (sometimes in book form) so that makes my presence more welcome. After that, I'm often asked to get some select photos that I might not personally have thought of.
A fabulous perspective on the beautiful table. The soft light is also great at rendering an intimate atmosphere. You still have a lovely memory of the event.
