I happened upon that beautiful French phrase years ago, and it made me think of the many beautiful treasures I often happened upon in the garden. Inspired, I set out to find a beautiful container for collecting and showcasing the beautiful treasures. When I happened upon this luscious sage green, compartmentalized box built all the way back between 1910-1920, I could not resist its timeworn crackled finish and considered it perfect.
What memories this image evokes of all that I happened upon back then — the phrase, the beautiful garden treasures, the interesting old box — all the start of an enjoyable, lifelong ritual. Box in hand, I wonder what I'll happen upon in the garden today...
Delightful, Janet - and it all starts in how we look at things - the positive outlook - the choice to enjoy the Lord's treasures. This matches well with a message I got today from a woman (guess she must be 40 now - I taught her when she was 10) Her only child just turned 4 and she and her husband have brought her up to love the outdoors. They teach at the Univ. of Arkansas but camp all summer in Colorado. She had sent me pictures of the little one running the trails with her today (5 miles) and turning back to look at Maroon Bells - telling her mom that was the most beautiful thing she'd seen. She's going to be just like her mom! Always looking for the beauty in nature.
Beautiful picture, Janet. I absolutely love the old box you've found and put to such good use here. Makes me wish to find a similar treasure for a similar purpose.
