Hoping to find Purple Martins, Red-winged Blackbirds, and other spring migrants, Mike and I drove to Murrysville Wetlands today. Still in the parking lot, we saw Purple Martins swooping overhead while some sunned themselves on the warm roof of the one and only building. Red-winged Blackbirds trilled loudly from the Cattails; but it was their bright, flashy red epaulets that really attracted our attention.
On the trail, we discovered this about-to-flower tree — and don't trees loaded with flower buds in spring always delight? My light meter bounced from one extreme to the other as puffy clouds passed in front of the sun, so Mike watched the clouds as I peered through the viewfinder. He let me know the perfect moment to press the shutter button; so thanks to my wonderful husband, I see sunlight on these colorful buds AND his love — both shining brightly!
Looks like it could be a cherry or crab apple from the bark. How pretty! Thanks to Mike for telling you when the light would be just right- the shot is perfect!
