Best by far on black. For my birthday, Jim took me up to Portland to shoot this new bike, pedestrian, and light rain (no cars allowed) bridge and joined me in a night walk to photograph it and the Hawthorne Bridge. It was the only day it didn't rain for weeks! This bridge is somehow engineered so that when the water in the river beneath it changes due to movement of boats, water flow, effect of the light rail moving across the bridge, there are sound waves (I guess) that bounce between two huge vertical disks below the bridge on opposite sides of the river. And tha "talking" between the disks changes the color of the lights on the bridge. It is a beautiful landmark even in daytime, but at night...wow!
I'm off to get my new puppy so it remains to be seen what happens with my camera, photography, 365 involvement, life!
Thanks so much for your friendship, visits, comments, suggestions, favs
Ooooohhhhh . . . dramatic on black for sure! It's like I'm seeing it myself looming in front of me as I approach it in the dark. I like how you lined up the right boat at the right place, and those starry red lights punctuate the image.
@Taffy , I see a trip to photograph this bridge at night in our future!
Beautiful capture and bridge . It looks similar to a fairly new bridge in Delaware . It's only color is blue and was build for cars with a pedestrian/ bicycle walkway.

Excellent bit of engineering, really nicely captured with the lighting.
