Best on black. This is for the flash of red- trinkets, treasures and trash challenge. The lantern is a trinket and the leather bound old copy of Huck Finn and, of course, the glass of red wine are the treasures. I photographed this in color for my PSA still life module which I am still working on and would love feedback on.

Artful arrangement. Would like to see more detail in the lantern and a little more separation from the background - especially above the wine glass... just some ideas... hope they are helpful.
@kvphoto I so appreciate your critique. I often find when I post things here, they are much darker than on my computer and I think I will be using the color version for my PSA course....but I will look at the color shot with your suggestions and see what I think
I like the triple flame in the reflections and the wonderful soft tones. The book really pops against the very dark background -- wondering if that was your intent. Maybe lighten a little of the background and tone down the book a bit? I also, if I were re-taking, might move the book a little closer to the wine glass.
I personally really like how you set this up. If it were me I might try moving the wine glass a bit to the right, but I think there are many successful ways to position these things. I also like it all on a dark background, The lantern may benefit from just a small touch of lightening, but I like the hint of detail as is. Beautifully done!
