When the jacarandas start flowering in Sydney in November it means it’s examination time at the schools and universities. And then it’s summer holidays. Jacarandas always bring back fond memories of years gone by.
The jacaranda is not native to Australia but was imported from Central America in the 19th century. An import that did very well and did no harm.
They are beautiful trees. My first experience with jacarandas was when we lived in Cyprus for 3 years. I still remember driving to Limassol during jacaranda time with trees lining the street for miles.
I was so pleased when we came to Australia and saw them here too.
John - I meant to say welcome back... I well remember your posts from Thailand. Sorry to learn that you've had a serious change of circumstances - I wish you well my friend.
