Somehow, I ended up in the kitchen of one of those gigantic tents (capacity 550+) at Oktoberfest. Reservations are required to even get into the tents and they hire tough bouncers at the entrances. Perhaps it's because I was decked out in all black, wearing that telltale photographer's vest with pockets, the bouncers at the tent entrance and security all over the interior assumed I was a photographer so I was able to get in everywhere. My get-pushed partner, Rachel @roseolivia had challenged me to photograph "blur" this week, and I think this one adequately depicts the blur of the speed at which these dirndl-clad women move with so many litres of bier at once! Good thing I didn't have my dirndl on, because if you venture into the kitchen, it's a guarantee you will have bier splashed and dripped on you and your camera. Especially if you get too close to the dishwashing spray that cleans all these! (Real professional photographers outside rescued my camera with some kind of cleaning fluid and some kind of spongey fabric so all seems ok with my camera now.)
Great shot and the blur really creates that feeling of movement. I feel for the waitresses, this must be seriously heavy and they must be utterly exhausted at the end of their shift. Beautifully captured and I have genuinely enjoyed the get pushed challenge with you this week
You have certainly captured blur and movement in this shot, Junko. Enjoyed your narrative too, sounds like an adventure and a good ploy to get into hard to access areas.
So you are in Munich! A bit jealous right now, I've never been on the real Oktoberfest there. One time maybe :-) Nice blurry shot. These waitresses are amazing, I bet I couldn't lift those all day long.
