My Get-Pushed partner David Tigani noted that I didn't have portraits in my album (there's are many reasons why, beginning with I don't really know how) and he asked me to try portraits this week . . . first attempt. My very dear friend in Munich was a willing subject while I fiddled with settings and tried my best.
A few more thoughts...I may have shot it not quite so tightly so that we see her hair on the right side as well, and the other thing that occurred to me as I viewed it is that the red shirt sort of dominates since her skin is so pale. I didn't know if that's what you were wanting to have happen or not. If so, it works great. If not, then I wonder if you converted this to b&w if you'd have a softer image for her. I LOVE her expression -- and the crinkly eyes.
Fantastic portrait, Junko. Her smile is contagious! I agree somewhat with @taffy that you could have taken a step back, but only because I would have loved to see the beautiful bokeh framing her a bit more. Can't wait to see more. Well done.
@Taffy@dtigani -- I was sitting next to her at a cafe table, so I should have pushed my chair back farther to not be quite so close. I sincerely appreciate your constructive feedback and I have now posted a second photo. I took your suggestion, @Taffy, and I converted it to b&w because I couldn't quite the the color right on it.
