On the playground emotions change so quickly... just seconds before this shot the Mom & baby came down the slide together and were all smiles... next the baby runs over to another playground object, falls down, and is wailing. After a minute or two of mom's attention it is all smiles and happiness again. --Note: this shot was taken at a local park and after shooting a few pictures at the playground we looped around the park. When we made it to the parking lot we were met by two police officers who had been called because we were "suspicious." I asked if it was illegal to take pictures of children on the playground and he said it was not. I told him about this project and that I was taking a picture of a crying baby to show emotion. That satisfied the police officers. I also told them that I completely understood people being protective of their children.
You nailed that for sure - I had an unfortunate experience a few years back when I asked a really tall chap to walk through a v small doorway - turned out he was a sixth form student and I was approached by a security guard. I don't take shots of 'children' any more!
Oh dear somebody isn't happy. It doesn't sound as though too many injuries were incurred though.
I am very careful taking photos of children. I understand that if it is in a public place it is okay and I try not to show their faces but if it is in a building or somewhere privately owned it is a different story.
I do love the emotion of the photo. I am VERY cautious taking photos of strangers and generally ask permission, especially of ladies and their children.
