We visited this location twice and the first time was under gray skies and flat light and that is where the trailer & car image came from. During the final session of our photo workshop our instructor, Mandy Lea, demonstrated an easy technique for sky replacement in PhotoShop. She suggested using one of your own sky shots. In this composite I used the sky from my horizontal shot of the stars over the Rio Grande River. The challenging part of the edit was putting the starry sky in the trailer windows. I had hoped to create a night sky image at this location and did not have the opportunity yet I am thankful for learning some new editing techniques. Well done! Very impressive. Sounds like you learned a lot from Mandy Lea workshop? Your images of Texas have been fabulous. Must look her up. My 15 years living in Texas never included a visit to any place for photography as my hobby didn't start until recently. I just checked her website and her work is amazing. But her pricing doesn't make sense to me it's so cheap. What does her workshop include? And I suppose it means you have to have your own setup and a camping buddy and all that?
@monikozi Wow... what a huge compliment you’ve given me... you made my day! I would think that a double exposure composite would have one image over another as opposed to using one image for the sky and another for the foreground.
@jyokota The pricing includes an intro session with some photo tips and instruction, travel to scenic locations (carpool with other participants - share the cost of gas), a group meeting to give ideas and suggestions and explain where we are going and what to expect before each shoot, some one-on-one instruction at each site and Mandy meets each person at their skill level to instruct, give advice... she is not pushy and honors each person’s talents, capabilities, etc. We had meals together (with brown bag picnic style - or lunch or dinner at restaurants & pay for your own meals. At the end of the workshop each person picked 5 photos to share with the group and one fave... at the beginning of the workshop Mandy gave us a tote bag with hand sanitizer, a nice Big Bend photo workshop mask with her logo, a notebook and pen, a calendar, and a flash drive to put our photos on to share with her for the final session which was an image review. During the review the group would give input (positive but suggestions/ideas for possible edits/improvements). Then the last part of that session is to share each participant’s favorite photo. We voted for our fave and that person got $50 credit for the next workshop they sign up for. That was me... yippie!!! It was in this final session that Mandy showed us the sky replacement tool in PS. You will have to pay for your own accommodations at the motel/hotel/campground. Hope this is helpful.
hmmm... I would have said that using 2 images to make up a third image would fit the composite idea. Along with the overlapping in double exposure, because you're masking as well.. too much detail.
let's enjoy this gorgeous photo!
