Day 12: February 21. Instead of a rest & laundry day we had a family hike from Trailer Village (our campground) to the South Kaibab trailhead on the Arizona National Scenic Trail. We stopped and had a snack there and refilled our water bottles. Then we walked the rim trail to Mather Point and took the Greenway Trail back to our campground. Total mileage was just under 7 miles. This hike seemed fairly level but my step tracker said I climbed 160 flights of stairs and Kate’s said she climbed 128. The difference in our numbers is the long walk I took with Sugar this morning. Sugar loved every minute of the hike and played like crazy in any snow that was in her path. She also got to meet a large family group with many young children and four babies… she was so was so intrigued with the babies… guess she loved their baby aromas!
We stopped by the Yavapai Pub and ordered takeout burgers… I’d been craving a burger and it was mighty yummy. I had the spiciest potato salad I’ve ever eaten… must have had a lot of hot red pepper in it because to was orange in color. We stopped by the laundry facilities at Mather Campground and found out that we were too late to do laundry today… what a shame… guess we will have to try to do that tomorrow.
We have not had any rain or snow yet but the winds gusts are rocking the camper - up to 50 MPH gusts. The wind continues tomorrow… snow likely tomorrow afternoon & evening.
Wow! I am so envious! This is beautiful beyond words and sounds like you're having a really memorable trip. Take care, stay safe and give Sugar a hug for me.
What a wonderful capture of this stunning view and gorgeous cloudscape. I am really enjoying your daily reports as I will never get the opportunity to see this magical place.
I’m late in commenting on your photos, but I am amazed! They are frame worthy for sure. I am enjoying your photos very much. We are headed to Flagstaff and Sedona next week!
