Tonto West Purple Cacti

Day 3 of my Grand Canyon Backpacking trip (February 27th). After camp was set up and we ate dinner we hiked out to Plateau Point along the Tonto West trail. This field of purple cacti was eye catching.

--please excuse my absence... I've been super busy with yard work, planting new trees and flowers, and doing a little hiking.

Stunning shot. It is tricky. Are the cacti really purplish? Or is it just the shadow effect. That purple shade is also present in the shadows in the distant mountains. Very neat shot
